Both of them were known for their witty remarks during public addresses, but the day Moi poked fun at Kibaki's name while he was his vice president has stood out.

Kibaki responds to Moi's joke
In response to Moi's quip, Kibaki said since they were all Kenyans, there could have been a possibility that his father originated from Kibabii even though he was born in Nyeri.
" Just like the president has told us several times, there is no need to brag about where you were born because nobody asked, nor did you know you were just born," he said.
"And your parents only prayed to God, and they were given a child.They did not know if they would have a baby boy or a baby girl, so let us educate all of them,' added the late president.
He concluded by adding to Moi's joke by saying, in case the residents of Kibabii who had attended the function got tired of the name, they could change it to Kibaki.
Uhuru announced Kibaki's death
Kibaki died on Friday, April 22, as announced by President Uhuruku Kenyatta, who eulogised him as a quintessential patriot whose legacy of civic responsibility will continue to inspire generations of Kenyans long into the future.
